Job Description

Backhaul Direct is hiring a Logistics Pricing Analyst for our Operations. We are looking for a motivated person with a self-starter mentality to price our customers’ freight opportunities actively and strategically. The Logistics Pricing Analyst is primarily responsible for developing sustainable rates and creating pricing solutions consistent with Backhaul Direct’s goals to sustain and grow our business. The Logistics Pricing Analyst will be maintaining systems, tools and processes utilized by the sales team to provide support to all users while enhancing projects to streamline business processes. The Logistics Pricing Analyst is an integral position to our team and overall growth strategy. We look forward to this position thriving in our fast-paced environment!


What will you do as a Logistics Pricing Analyst?

  • Create pricing solutions for new business opportunities, utilize financial models and optimization tools from data collection through contract execution
  • Create ad-hoc analysis to support leadership
  • Assists to prepare high-level reports and presentations to support customer and vendor meetings
  • Effectively manage a high volume of requests and act as an “owner” for each opportunity as is relates to each pricing project or opportunity
  • Update and maintain accurate quotes in rate software applications
  • Communicate with sales professionals and senior management to develop customer-specific pricing strategies
  • Analyze customer data to develop an understanding of their shipment profile and service requirements
  • Analyzes and documents customer operational characteristics and/or requirements
  • Coordinate as part of a cross-functional operations team on tactical projects
  • Assist with engineering, product, and other tech teams to define, build, drive and measure mechanisms to enable our sales team
  • Define, develop, and analyze customer KPIs
  • Analyze data to develop actionable metrics to measure performance, trends, growth, forecast and cost
  • Assist with research and analysis of data in support of management decisions
  • Monitors initiatives against benchmark metrics to proactively highlight areas of opportunity and improvement
  • Analyze customers RFP’s, pricing projects, and benchmarking opportunities


What are the qualifications of the Logistics Pricing Analyst?

  • Tableau experience a plus
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience preferably in logistics/transportation industry with pricing and database experience
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Ability to interact with customers, vendors, and leadership
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Goal-driven and self-started team player
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications with an emphasis in Excel including the use of macros, pivot tables, charting, formatting, and V Lookups
  • Knowledge in market trends and recognizing appropriate market adjustments when needed
  • Understanding of LTL tariffs, carriers, rules, and contracts is a plus
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment, meet strict deadlines, and work under pressure
  • Business analysis and function experience, including requirements gathering creating/deploying solutions to users
