Summary:

Under general supervision to perform assigned locksmith, mechanical, and repair work.

Responsibilities:

• Set up keying requirements for new key systems and review plans for hardware installed in compliance with university specifications.
• Cut keys, change pin keying, change simple combinations
• Maintain accurate records of hardware installation, keys issued to personnel, building and door records
• Make emergency repairs to locks and door openers as needed
• Perform all duties related to locksmith and mechanic work
• Repair doors and hardware, make preventative maintenance checks and repairs
• Clean roofs, drains, gutters, downspouts, and catch basins.
• Assist carpenters and other facilities management employees with hardware installation
• Maintain equipment in operating condition
• Repair minor plumbing and electrical, ceiling tiles, and supports
• Install, repair, and adjust locks and other hardware for doors, windows, gates, and accessible areas
• Other duties as assigned
• Maintain air handling units by changing filters, cleaning coils, and changing belts
• Repair and install electrical keyless entrance systems
• Make materials lists for hardware requests and required parts for repair

Job Requirements:

Minimum Requirements:

• Basic knowledge of Microsoft office suite (word outlook and excel.)
• Mechanical and multi trade skills, abilities, and experience
• Available off hours for emergencies
• Two years knowledge and experience in locksmithing practices and methods including skill in the use of the tools and equipment related to locksmithing

Preferred Requirements:

• Locksmith schooling certificate preferred but not required
