Job Description

The Litigation Paralegal provides professional support and managerial services for the day-to-day operations of the Litigation Department, primarily in the areas of credit and collections litigation, bankruptcy, commercial disputes, commercial subpoenas, government investigations, and other matters as assigned, potentially including corporate filings. This role will report to our Sr. Litigation Paralegal.

Responsibilities:

  • Managing and reviewing legal invoices and maintaining receipts of legal costs.
  • Assisting Sr. Litigation Paralegal as needed in the areas of subpoena response, e-discovery, and legal holds.
  • Assisting with drafting, proofreading, and filing pleadings, motions, affidavits, proofs of claim, and other documents in the areas of bankruptcy and credit and collections litigation.
  • Coordinating with process servers, other vendors, and court staff.
  • Coordinating with cross-functional teams on behalf of the Litigation Group.
  • Assisting internal and external counsel in pre-litigation investigations and collecting documents.
  • Maintaining internal case filing system and tracking/calendaring case-related deadlines utilizing related Litigation tools (case management database, calendar, etc.).
  • Preparing monthly reports on legal spend in the credit and collection matters and as requested.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Paralegal certificate from an ABA-accredited program required. Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a litigation paralegal or in a supporting role, preferably in a law firm. Bankruptcy and/or credit and collections experience preferred.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, strong organizational skills, and excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Self-directed; works independently with minimum supervision.
  • Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite products, Legal Tracker, Relativity, PACER, and the MN Judicial Branch eFile and eServe platform, or ability to learn.

  • Complete fluency in all aspects of the litigation process, including advanced understanding of e-discovery and subpoena response obligations.
  • High levels of maturity, personal initiative, and sound judgment.
