Job Summary:
- Acts as the liaison to the various sections of the Chicago Fire Department Fire Prevention Bureau (CFD) and The University of Chicago Risk Management department.
- Performs fire drills on various shifts.
- Evaluates and assesses performance related to life safety and fire emergency readiness.
- Investigates and evaluates safety incidents.
- Evaluates Life Safety with regard to (but not limited to) construction risk assessments and documentation database, inspects constructions sites and evaluates potential life safety risks for building occupants including exiting, penetrations, evacuation, fire devices, and fire equipment.

- Coordinates construction risk assessments, inspects constructions sites and evaluates potential life safety risks for building occupants.
Qualifications:
- Show excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to walk for extended periods and climb ladders.
- Ability to complete required documentation accurately and timely.
- Knowledge of relevant codes and standards, National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), Chicago Building Code (CBC), Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH), the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations
- Bachelor’s degree in fire safety engineering or equivalent experience preferred.
- Ability to accurately maintain records, accounts, and files on computer.
- Ability to pass a physical to wear respiratory protection as part of the emergency response team.
- At least three years’ experience in related field
