About the Practice: The Strickland Family Medicine Center is a state-of-the-art family medicine teaching facility that will help transform the health of Gwinnett community. The family medicine center is focused on engagement between the patient, their family and the broader medical team. Families now have access to medical care from trusted physicians who can meet all of their needs in one location as a range of treatment options are available from newborn care to geriatrics, and including maternity care.
The family medicine center is also the primary clinical teaching site for Northside Hospital Gwinnett’s Family Medicine Residency Program that will provide educational opportunities for residents, medical students, and other allied health professional students.
Responsible for providing professional nursing care to patients in support of, and as directed by, the physician. Responsible for performing assigned back office duties. Responsible for performing all duties in accordance with Practice policies and procedures.
  • Instruct patients regarding dietary management, preparation for special procedures and medications, insulin or other injections.
  • Assists physicians with examinations, procedures and other activities related to direct patient care.
  • Prepares exam rooms with appropriate instruments, supplies and equipment. Cleans exam rooms between procedures and exams. Ensure that examination rooms are kept clean and fully stocked for patient treatment. Inventory and originate requisition order for the medical and drug supplies. Organize and maintain medical supplies in a neat and orderly fashion in the designated area.
  • Escort patients from waiting area and prepare them for examination. Documents patient's vital statistics and other encounter data into patient chart and ensures that all required records are in the chart. Obtains brief medical history and symptoms from patients.
  • Respond to clinically related patient telephone calls in a timely manner and within established guidelines. Order refills of prescriptions as dictated by the physician and enter appropriately in the medical record. Assist the physician in returning patient telephone calls within the appropriate boundaries of knowledge and scope of practice.
  • Document all information in the medical record in the approved format.
  • Administer injections and allergy testing as required.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES/LICENSE OR CERTIFICATION REQUIRED
  • Graduation from an approved school of practical nursing.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES/LICENSE OR CERTIFICATION PREFERRED
  • Previous experience in specialty area.
