Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements: Licensed master’s degree or higher in social work, mental health counseling, nursing or psychology.

The SOS-CTI Team is a unique opportunity for experienced mental health professionals to work in one of the Governor’s newly launched innovative Safe Options Support (SOS) teams, that will provide comprehensive care to street homeless or subway dwelling individuals.

This program will span three counties to include Albany, Schenectady and Saratoga.

The Licensed Mental Health Professional will play a pivotal role on one of Governor’s newly launched innovative Safe Options Support (SOS) teams.

The Mental Health Clinician’s role will involve:

• Enhancing participant daily living skills
• Providing supportive counseling
• Coordinating participant needs before and after their move from street to home.
• Community outreach on the streets
• Advocating on behalf of participants when faced with discrimination or healthcare inequities.

Member choice, harm reduction, non-coercion, flexibility and person-centered core elements are essential to this team. The SOS teams will continue to follow participants for several months after housing placement to ensure their stability, independence and well-being in their new community. The role will require field-based work, periodic on call coverage, and a willingness to work flexible hours.

This is a full-time position that requires 40 hours per week. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 8am-4:30pm with a 30-minute unpaid lunch. The hours are somewhat flexible. The salary range is $70,000 to $85,000/year.
