Job Description
Description

Supports the Circulation Supervisor in the daily operation of the circulation section and assumes duties of Circulation Supervisor in supervisor's absence. Provides high quality customer service to library patrons. Enforces circulation policies and procedures. Provides technical guidance and on-the-job training while assisting and supervising staff. Conducts interviews, recommends for hiring for Page positions. Prepares work schedules for Page Staff. Prepares performance evaluations for Page Staff. Prepares bank deposits and reconciliation reports.

**Salary will be determined depending on qualifications of candidates who exceed the minimum requirements as outlined within the job description.

**Additional compensation based on licensure.

Essential Functions

Maintains all applicable files, records, accounts and inventories according to County policies and procedures.
Takes telephone calls and answers routine inquiries. Opens and distributes mail. Acts as receptionist as necessary.
Compiles information regarding unit activities and assists in preparing periodic and special reports as needed.
Enforces circulation policies and procedures. Performs circulation duties including check-out, check-in, renewals, collecting fines, and library registrations.
Directs Page staff in establishing work schedules, and provides technical guidance and on-the-job training.
Assists patrons with circulation problems and initiates action to resolve.
Assists in interview process and in assessment of performance evaluations.
Prepares bank deposits and reconciliation reports.
Builds and maintains positive relationships with co-workers, other county employees, and the public using principles of good customer service.
Maintains responsibility for the operation of Circulation Services in the absence of the Circulation Supervisor.
Maintains effective working relationships with department management team and subordinate personnel.
Performs other related work as required.

Minimum Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED and two (2) years of office work experience, or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities.
Skilled in multi-tasking at any given time at the circulation desk.

Knowledge in the operation of a personal computer and the handling of cash transactions. Ability to operate standard office and library equipment.

Knowledge of personal computers and associated software.

Ability to type 35 correct words per minute.

Additional Requirements

Knowledge of business English, spelling, punctuation, office practices and procedures to include record keeping methods.
Ability to deal with the public and volunteers professionally, courteously, efficiently and effectively. Must possess excellent customer service skills.
Ability to maintain records and filing systems in an orderly and consistent manner.
Ability to work independently in carrying out assignments to completion.
Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Drivers License.
