Job Description
Overview:
The Cleveland Office of a national, AmLaw 100 law firm is seeking a nurse-paralegal to work with attorneys on cases involving product liability, class action, and contract-related lawsuits, including those involving FDA-regulated devices and medicines, consumer products, and environmental and toxic tort actions.
A Day in the Life:
Performing a broad range of substantive tasks, you’ll work with attorneys on all medical aspects of litigation matters from inception to end. You’ll be responsible for obtaining, analyzing and summarizing medical records and legal documents related to the medical aspects of the case and preparing and updating medical chronologies for attorney review.
Other responsibilities will include: assisting attorneys with expert witnesses and working with attorneys to identify trial exhibits related to medical findings.
We Know You:
The ideal candidate will have a BSN or LPN and 3+ years of litigation experience in a law firm, including familiarity with case preparation from beginning to end and an understanding of a nurse and paralegal’s role in the litigation life cycle. Whether working independently or in a team environment, you always stay organized and meet deadlines. You’re a communication pro and recognize the importance of strong verbal and written communication to a busy team’s success. You demonstrate close attention to detail and provide an accurate, neat, and thorough work product, all while maintaining the ability to handle multiple projects and shifting priorities.
You’re knowledgeable of relevant software programs (e.g., Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint), with the ability to learn new software and operating systems. You also have a strong sense of accountability, taking ownership over projects and responsibilities, and you resolve issues proactively. Your excellent teamwork and strong client service orientation complement your ability to assess information, anticipate issues and outcomes, and make effective decisions.
