INTRODUCTION

The Department of Computer Science and Engineering at the University of Connecticut invites applications for a non-tenure-track position at the rank of Lecturer at the Stamford campus. The successful candidates will primarily contribute to the Department’s teaching program.

This position is for the new and dynamic program in computer science on the Stamford campus. It is specifically geared to Stamford and Fairfield county. This area has one of the world’s highest standards of living as well as a strong industrial base. There are opportunities for curricular design and engagement with regional industry. The successful hire will have significant opportunities to help shape the program. We expect to develop several concentration areas such as Software Engineering, Mobile Systems Development, Big Data Analytics, and Internet of Things, complementing the main department in Storrs. Our initial focus area is Software Engineering.

The successful candidate will share a deep commitment to effective instruction at the undergraduate level, the development of innovative courses, and mentoring of students in research, outreach, and professional development. The successful candidate will also be expected to broaden participation among members of under-represented groups; demonstrate through their teaching, possible research, and/or public engagement the richness of diversity in the learning experience; integrate multicultural experiences into instructional methods and research tools, and provide leadership in developing pedagogical techniques designed to meet the needs of diverse learning styles and intellectual interests.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Candidates must have an earned Master's degree in computing sciences or a related field by the time of appointment; candidates must have a proven record of potential in teaching; candidates must have a demonstrated commitment to promoting diversity and enhancing inclusion.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Expertise in several areas of computer science and outstanding record of teaching; commitment to effective teaching and use of innovative techniques; the ability to effectively communicate with students in both large and small audiences; the ability to contribute through research, teaching, and/or public engagement to the diversity and excellence of the learning experience.

APPOINTMENT TERMS

This is a full-time, 9-month, annually renewable non-tenure-track position with the possibility of subsequent annual academic-year reappointment, contingent on positive reviews and program funding, and may lead to a multi-year appointment. Candidates must be able to begin work on August 23, 2022.
