Job Description
Job Summary:


Raymond James is seeking a well-rounded Replication Database Administrator with a strong database replication background to join our DBA replication group. This individual will join a dynamic team and will be critical to tuning and managing data movement across a highly distributed environment ensuring data is sourced from the right place with the right technology. Additionally, new data movement technologies including Amazon Database Migration Service (DMS) will be used for any application using AWS. This role will follow a hybrid workstyle in one of the following locations: Denver, CO (primary), Saint Petersburg, FL, Memphis, TN, or Southfield, MI.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Maintains business SLA, compliance patch levels, security and operational guidelines for SOC auditing, practices SOP, incident management, and license compliance.
  • Support, tunes and monitors operational data streaming/replication topologies to ensure data is in-sync and data latency SLA’s are met.
  • Tenaciously works to deliver team goals with the greatest potential for producing positive business results.
  • Develop internal tools to facilitate the creation, deployment and monitoring of data replication through automation.
  • Participate as part of weekly on-call rotation with other team members.
  • Aligns communication, accountability, resources & processes to ensure strategic priorities yield measurable and sustainable results.
  • Works across functional teams to ensure data is sourced from right place using the right data movement technology.
  • Ensures that team continually works on resolving systematic issues in the environment and improving stability, automation and monitoring of systems.
  • Uses customer centric approaches for choosing course of action or developing appropriate solutions.
  • Designs data streaming/replication topologies.


Qualifications:


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:


Knowledge of:


  • Deployment of data replication/streaming in AWS (optional).
  • Experience with Kafka (optional).
  • Experience with native SQL Server replication and MongoDB (optional).


Skilled in:


  • Using scripting languages such as bash, Powershell, SQL and/or Python (required).
  • 2-5 years of experience with Oracle and/or SQL Server and/or RedShift (required).
  • Creating and maintaining streaming/replication pipelines (required).
  • 2-5 years of experience with GoldenGate and/or HVR and/or DMS (required).
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Designing and supporting data streaming/replication in a large multi-database platform environment (required).

Education/Previous Experience:


  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS or related degree and five (5) years of relevant experience including database administration, database programming, data engineering or combination of education and training experience.


Licenses/Certifications:


  • None required.
