The Laser Operator II will operate laser cutting machines. The role will start up and run the machine and load and unload material before and after cutting. The Laser Operator II will perform independent project tasks and may collaborate with customers to meet specifications and deadlines.
As a Laser Operator Technician, you will:
- Monitor laser machines including alarms, tip ups, etc.
- Participate in daily shop organization and clean-up
- De-burr and grind, metal finish parts
- Focus and center optics and machine start up
- Keep shop equipment operating by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, performing preventive maintenance, calling for repairs
- Read cut sheets to ensure the correct material and quantities are being used
- Read, interpret, and follow blueprints, sketches, or engineering drawings
- Monitor instruments such as pressure gauges, indicators, or meters to ensure optimum processing conditions
To be considered a Laser Operator Technician, you will need:
- Advanced math skills and mechanical aptitude
- Minimum of 4 years of laser machine experience
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Strong customer service skills, detail oriented, good communication skills
- Ability to work overtime and weekends
- Intermediate technical knowledge with reading, understanding blueprints, schematics, and knowledge of laying out material, taking measurements using a tape measure or scale
- Ability to operate a Hi-Lo and overhead crane
A successful candidate may also have:
- Fabrication experience
- Experience using a Mitsubishi 3015 LZP machine
- Experience with an Amada LC3015 F1 with ASUL 300 F1 automation
