Educational Requirements

The successful candidate will have a professional undergraduate or master’s degree in Urban Planning, City Planning, Architecture, Landscape Architecture, or related. Licensing or certification preferred.

Qualifications

This position requires excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills for use in an interactive design team environment, and an ability to work at a variety of project scales and geographic locations worldwide. The ideal candidate will have technical expertise in land use planning, environmental planning/CEQA/SEQR, grading and infrastructure, sustainability and climate resiliency, urban economics, and data analysis. Proficiency in AutoCAD and Adobe Creative Suite required; GIS, BIM a plus.

Description

We are looking for self-motivated, ambitious, and talented individuals to be at the center of Hart Howerton’s planning and design practice. Forward-thinking candidates who exhibit experience thinking through design and development of residential and resort communities, hospitality and mixed-use projects will immediately influence our work, across a range of scales in the US and abroad. Successful candidates will contribute to Hart Howerton’s approach to “designing complete environments,” reflecting the interdisciplinary nature of our studio and work process. A recently certified B Corporation, the firm’s work considers, measures and makes meaningful impacts to the communities where we work.

Working closely with a team, the Land Planner will help impact key design decisions on planning and urban design projects, as well as landscape architecture and architecture assignments, in our interdisciplinary studio. Tasks will include:

  • Analyzing natural and man-made factors affecting site development suitability.
  • Supporting the work by the firm and outside consultants on entitlements and environmental approvals for development projects
  • Participating in stakeholder outreach for community-based land planning assignments.
  • Preparing planning-related graphics for project reports and meetings.
  • Collaborating with other members of the firm — planners and urban designers, architects and landscape architects — as well as teams of consultants to create integrated, sustainable, and equitable solutions to complex land planning problems.
  • Conducting research and data analyses, including master plan level programming and space planning studies.

Salary Range*
$70,000-$90,000
