Lac Gov't Affairs Advisor

Involves providing unique, high impact, technical or expert advice to directors or officers within a region or internationally. Advisors can report to a Manager, MD, VP or SVP as required.

• The Advisor is also expected to interact regularly with senior management (including Vice President level) on conference calls and meetings, providing insight on impact of proposed regulations or opportunities to advocate for changes in regulations relevant to the Company's operations.
• The Advisor will also regularly engage with the Communications and Marketing teams to elicit and provide support, where needed, to help expand executive visibility, brand recognition, and strengthen relationships with government and institutional stakeholders.
• The Advisor is expected to liaise with local industry associations throughout the region, and regularly interface with regulatory and legislative bodies to advocate for Company and industry policy positions. The Advisor is expected to support Company representatives at industry associations. Travel will be necessary, particularly for in-person meetings with government and industry stakeholders.
• A significant aspect of the position involves drafting, contributing to, circulating and defend position statements, white papers, internal briefing memoranda and reports on policy and regulatory matters designed to inform and explain complex issues in a clear, concise and persuasive manner to Company management, as well as key government and industry stakeholders.
• The Advisor position is a trusted advisor within the Latin America and Caribbean (LAC) Regulatory and Government Affairs Department, reporting to the Managing Director of Regulatory and Government Affairs.
• The Advisor will work collaboratively and regularly with the Department's Regulatory Advisors and local Legal, Risk Management, and Permitting and Licensing teams on areas concerning compliance risk, regulatory impact management, and government/institutional relationships.
• The Advisor is expected to remain updated on relevant regulatory/legislative initiatives and developments, as well as effectively promote the Company's multiple policy priorities across the LAC region.

Education
A bachelor's degree is required, with a master's degree in a relevant field preferred. A law degree is not required, but is also considered a plus.
Language: Fluency English and Spanish is required. Portuguese is a major plus.
Experience
Experienced professional (5-7 years) with demonstrated success in advocacy work before government regulators, regional and international governmental institutions, as well as background in collaboration with industry associations and non-governmental organizations on matters involving customs and trade, postal, air and ground transportation, and/or logistics and transportation infrastructure.
