DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES: Under the immediate supervision of a Recreation Maintenance II supervisor, Foreman I or II, Superintendent of Maintenance and/or the Department Head. Employee is responsible for work of routine nature in performing manual labor. Employee will perform manual tasks involving the maintenance and cleaning of bathrooms, dressing rooms, emptying trash, picking up limbs, sweeping, mopping, digging and filling holes with pick and shovel; repairs to water/irrigation lines, as well as mowing, weed eating, edging, using a gas blower, changing light bulbs, and assisting with changing electrical outlets and light fixtures. Employee will be required to learn how to work around swimming pool equipment, including pool pump and pool filtration equipment. Employee will also be responsible for opening the park (at 6:00 a.m.) and closing the park (at dark) during his or her open/close rotation. Employee will perform/complete all other related or assigned work as required.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Knowledge of standard hand tools, lawn equipment, pole saw/chain saw usage, is essential. He or she must possess the ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions. Individual must be capable of lifting and moving heavy objects and to perform heavy physical work under varying weather conditions. Individual must be able to operate all types of lawn equipment, including a tractor with front end loader and/or backhoe attachments, as well as perform landscaping activities. Employee must be able to effectively communicate with the general public and work harmoniously with his or her co-workers and superiors.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: No previous training or experience required. Employee must demonstrate an eagerness/willingness to learn how to safely use all job related equipment. Additionally, physical stamina; manual dexterity; eye-hand-foot coordination; and ability and willingness to follow instructions are imperative. Three to five years of job related work experience is preferred.
