Work Schedule:
Monday to Thursday 6:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. when work is available; Maximum of 1,000 hours each year
Primary Duties/Brief Description of Work:
This employee will be responsible for performing various assigned duties in the maintenance of parks, boulevards, Open spaces and rights-of-way, etc. Duties include, but are not limited to Mowing, Landscaping, Weed eating, and Tree work and other duties. Other duties include, but are not limited to operating job-specific equipment, such as weed-eaters, tractors, push mowers, edger’s, chain saws, and hand tools. This position requires working around traffic and heavy equipment. The individual in this position must be able to follow both verbal and written instructions. Early morning reporting times and working during inclement weather are required. This employee must have good attendance and must maintain a reliable means of contact (i.e. home or cellular telephone). The physical requirements of the job are standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, climbing, walking on uneven surfaces, shoveling, and heavy lifting up to 50 lbs. Work is performed outside in all weather conditions. The City of Greensboro pays employees semi-monthly and the position is assigned to a 40-hour work schedule, which is typically Monday through Thursday 6:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. when work is available. This schedule is subject to change during a holiday week or for emergency service which may require working a flexible schedule with little or no notice and may include weekends or holidays. Early morning reporting times and working during inclement weather are required. This employee must have good attendance. Women and minorities are encouraged to apply.
