Job Description

ICON Government and Public Health Solutions (IGP) is seeking a Laboratory Assistant to join our team to support the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID).

 

What you will be doing:

 

  • Demonstrates a high level of personal integrity and ethical behavior with a responsible and mature approach to work duties.
  • Action oriented demonstrating the ability to handle large work load demands and to trouble shoot issues timely when required.
  • Customer Focused -providing timely, confident, reliable and friendly service to all our internal and external customers.
  • Retrieve samples for add on testing.
  • Distribute all samples.
  • Receive samples from accessioning. Segregate and distribute samples to the lab.
  • Ability to work in conformance with standard operating procedure and conditions with a systematic approach to tasks committed to seeing things through to completion To be able to prepare reagents accurately and consistently.
  • Demonstrated ability to keep accurate, legible records and recognize the need to handle these records and all other information in line with GCP/GLP/GDP.
  • Inventory logs.
  • Participates in required Continuous Professional Education Programs, including conferences, internal journal club and lectures, as required.
  • Good communication skills that allow for confident interaction with all levels in the organization.
  • Locate misplaced samples.
  • Assists with maintaining quality control.
  • Monitor and print pending lists.
  • Performs other relevant tasks as requested.
  • Retrieve/return samples from long-term storage for testing per lab request.
  • Specimen storage, rotation and disposal.
  • Assists with set up and management of samples for analysis.
  • Collate and transfer samples for long term storage.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks with good organization skills and good attention to detail.

 

You are:

 

  • 2 year Degree/Associate Degree
  • Ability to obtain a Level 5: Public Trust
  • 0-3 years experience 
  • Location: Rockville, MD 
  • Must be a US Citizen
