Job Description
  • Collect specimens from physician’s offices, nursing homes, and Fairview Hospital. Deliver supplies, documents, medications and equipment to physician’s offices, nursing homes, Fairview Hospital, North County Laboratory, Rural Health Clinics, Legal offices Must follow DOT regulations for the transportation of biological specimens.
  • Independent judgment and initiative required to schedule, organize, and plan work.
  • Ability to work efficiently, accurately, and alertly for extended periods of time, and under stress, to ensure against errors.
  • Experience:
    • On the job experience as a courier in a hospital setting preferred.
  • Knowledge of HIS and LIS.
  • License, Certification & Registration:
    • DRIVER - Valid Driver's License

  • DEFINITION/PRIMARY FUNCTION
      Being knowledgeable and responsible for the transporting of specimens and supplies under the philosophy, policies, and procedures established by the hospital and laboratory. Recognize how the courier position and duties relate to the overall function of the laboratory and the hospital in view of patient care.
