The Lab Manager, under the supervision of the Medical Director and Administrative Director, plans, coordinates and directs the daily activities of the personnel in assigned sections of the clinical laboratory. The lab Manager is responsible for: assignment of duties, work scheduling, reviewing and evaluating performance, maintains appropriate documentation of proficiency for all laboratory personnel in compliance with laboratory policy and regulatory guidelines: ensures the validity and accuracy of test results: performs the duties of a Registered Medical Technologist: responsible for new employees, student training, and documentation within the section, assures quality or work, work flow, turn-around-time and timely reporting of values, assures accurate testing to support quality patient care, oversees maintenance and troubleshooting of instruments within the section, accept suggestions and corrections, adjust to changing situations, ensures that safety precautions and protective attire is used at all times for compliance with hospital and laboratory policies and procedures, must promote team leadership management approach, must be familiar with performance and interpretation of laboratory procedures associated with pediatric hospital for patients below the age of 24 years/364 days, responsible for creation and periodic review of section procedure manual written in accordance with the NCCLS standards, and ensure that Corporate and Laboratory integrity is in compliance with OIG guidelines. The Lab Manager performs other duties as assigned and is able to work hours beyond those of normal full-time positions to fulfill duties and needs of Driscoll Children's Hospital.
