Kitchen Aid Jobs

OVERVIEW

Under the supervision of the Kitchen Supervisor, the Kitchen Aide will assist in food preparation, serving and clean up for daily meals for shelter guests. This includes three meals a day as well as food storage, food inventory and meal reporting for statistics and billing.

DUTIES

• Any other duties relating to your job as requested by the Supervisors and/or Officers
• Coordinate and work with other kitchen staff in ordering and inventorying food supplies
• Have or be able to immediately acquire Serve Safe Certification for Food Handlers Permit
• Prepare and clean kitchen areas daily, for service and inspections
• Assist with food storage, food preparation, cooking and serving daily meals for shelter clients
• Coordinate and supervise the kitchen volunteers

QUALIFICATIONS

• Ability to coordinate and manage multiple duties.
• Possess maturity and confidentially.
• Experience in nutritional needs for homeless populations.
• Must be able to communicate in English, both verbally and in writing skills sufficient to perform the tasks required.
• Ability to prioritize work and multi-task simultaneous projects.
• Must be at least 21 years old.
• High School Diploma or equivalent or equivalent
• Interact professionally in all contact with the public and Salvation Army Officers and staff
• Abide by Salvation Army Policies and Procedures and have an acceptance of Salvation Army philosophy and mission.
• Be cordial, friendly and professional in carrying out job responsibilities
• Ability to communicate effectively and accurately.
• Some experience with disadvantaged populations, whether through work, volunteering or being a member of a disadvantaged population required
• Trained or receiving training on informal mental health/ substance abuse evaluation
• Bilingual in Spanish a plus

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Ability to grasp, push, pull objects such as food trays, water pitchers, boxes or bags of food, move racks and other food storage containers, and reach overhead
• Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or sometimes continuous basis
• Be able to pick up, lift and maneuver 20 lbs. regularly
