Juvenile Court Officer 1 position is in the Wapello County Juvenile Court Office, Ottumwa, IA. May be assigned to cover other counties as needed. Starting salary $49,545.60 annually, $1,905.60 bi-weekly.

Responsibilities

The Juvenile Court Officer position handles delinquency matters as outlined in Chapter 232, Code of Iowa. This person will supervise youth as directed by the Court, which includes performing intake interviews, completing risk assessments, and determining the appropriate action in accordance with “best practice” procedures. Additional responsibilities include conducting predisposition investigations, making recommendations, preparing Court reports, testifying in Court, coordinating and monitoring treatment services, and documenting progress. Availability for after hour emergency work is also a condition of employment. Performs other related work as required.

This is a non-merit position with the Iowa Judicial Branch. Candidates must follow the instructions in the "To Apply" section.

Positions in this class are exempt from the screening and referral requirements of the Iowa Department of Administrative Services - Human Resources Enterprise.

Minimum Qualification Requirements

A Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university in law, criminal justice, criminology, psychology, sociology, education, or related social sciences.

Must successfully complete training requirements set by the Iowa Supreme Court.

Must possess a valid driver’s license.
