Job Description

Overview

We are looking for an experienced Junior Indirect Tax Leader to join our team to help in maintaining and enhancing the best one-stop indirect tax solution for all small businesses worldwide. We need you to help us build up our global, cloud-based Automated Sales Tax platform for QuickBooks Online. This role will challenge you to marry your knowledge of the complex array of global, state, and local indirect tax regulations with the needs of our small business customers. This will enable simple, guiding, and delightful user experiences, targeted to small business owners across the US and Internationally. Your tax research and analysis skills, as well as acute attention to detail, will be needed as we maintain the existing, as well as develop new, sales and use tax rates and compliance rules across the globe.

What you'll bring

  • Strong analytical skills with ability to identify problems and solutions with use of market or internal data
  • Sound understanding of U.S. and International direct and indirect tax
  • Excellent research, analysis, and writing skills with the ability to read, understand, and interpret transaction tax-related information, publications, and documents accurately, efficiently, and effectively, as well as an ability to communicate all issues simply
  • Demonstrated contributions to a broad cross-functional work environment
  • Juris Doctorate (J.D.) with 2-3 years experience in Sales and Use Tax operations in a service-related technology business or CPA with 6 or more years experience in Sales and Use Tax operations in a service-related technology business
  • Strong ability to attend to projects, acute attention to detail, follow-up and follow-through skills, and positive attitude
  • Ability to think end-to-end about how to meet customer needs in a way that is operationally sustainable
  • Self-starter who can operate independently or within a team and balance multiple priorities and objectives

How you will lead

  • Communicate and develop relationships with various Tax Authorities to research and solve specific complex tax issues
  • Plan for effective processes to proactively maintain all research data inside the Automated Sales Tax system
  • Work with a cross functional team (Dev, QA, XD, Operations, Regulatory Affairs, Sales Tax Compliance, Subscriber Communications, Marketing, Customer Care) for successful releases
  • Understand and define the end-to-end customer experience and service delivery process for Automated Sales Tax features
  • Serve as a resource to anyone within Intuit for tax issue explanation, research, and/or resolution
  • Research, monitor, and accurately interpret Country, State, and Local laws, rules, and regulations pertaining to Sales, Use, GST, and Value Added Taxes
  • Address a variety of indirect tax issues as needed and be able to communicate findings clearly, concisely, and without error internally and externally
  • Participate in internal and external indirect tax groups, including presentations, as requested by manager or director, representing Intuit, Inc.
  • Work closely with the Technology Development team to update the Automated Sales Tax engine monthly due to taxability and rate changes
