Junior Structural Engineer Jobs

Tetra Tech’s Bellevue design center office is currently seeking a Junior Structural Engineer to join our multi-discipline team which specializes in innovative planning, engineering, and design solutions for inland navigation structures including locks, waterfront structures, ports, dams, hydropower, flood risk reduction structures, fish passage structures and bridges.

Your Role:

• Produce calculations using engineering formulas for project design.
• Structural design and analysis of civil works structures (flood walls, navigation locks, dam structures), waterfront structures, bridges and pump stations.
• Read, interpret and develop structural design plans.
• Provide information to Project or Senior Engineers for incorporation into specifications.
• Perform quality control checks of calculations, drawings and quantities.
• Contact and coordinate with other departments to research appropriate course of action.
• Review and respond to shop drawings and RFIs during construction.
• Research design options and document findings for senior engineers.
• Solve problems using a combination of design standards and modified standard procedures or methods developed in prior assignments.

Qualifications:

• Demonstrated educational and relevant work experience showing strong analytical, written and verbal communication skills
• Working knowledge of structural computer-based design tools (such as SAP2000, SAFE, LPILE, GROUP)
• Familiarity with current structural design methods, codes, and standards
• Familiarity with developing structural drawings
• Working knowledge (or interest in learning) 3D FEA structural analysis computer design tools (such as ANSYS)
• Experience with structural concrete and steel design
• 0-5 years of relevant structural engineering experience
• EIT Certification required
• BS in civil or structural engineering (master's degree preferred)
• Working knowledge (or interest in learning) BIM and/or CAD software platforms (such as AutoCAD, Revit, Bentley OpenBuildings, MicroStation)
• Microsoft Office software experience/understanding

The salary range or hourly wage for this position is approximately $65,000 to $92,000 depending on education, qualifications, experience and work location.
