Position Title: Junior Scrum Master
The Junior Scrum Master is a servant leader for the agile practice of 1-2 agile teams leveraging the scrum framework, assists in managing the flow of work, removes impediments that block the agile team from progressing, tracks and communicates agile KPI metrics, and ensures the team is continuously improving. The Junior Scrum Master will encourage the adoption and promote adherence to the scrum framework amongst the teams they support.
Responsibilities:
  • Guides backlog refinement in partnership with the Product Owner to keep the backlog healthy
  • Demonstrates appreciation of the depths of agile practices and principles and helps the teams appreciate them
  • Escalates issues and drives change to remove impediments from the teams when applicable
  • Drives continuous improvement within the team through facilitation of retrospectives and ensures improvement opportunities are actualized by planning them into upcoming sprints
  • Practice and encourage the agile mindset and behaviors as they relate to the agile manifesto and scrum framework
  • Leverage agile tooling (Jira) to drive team performance and work tracking
  • Cultivate and drive the usage of core scrum ceremonies including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and sprint retrospectives
  • Takes responsibility for managing dependencies between the scrum team and third parties or other teams/groups
Required Technical Skills:
Strong understanding of and experience with the scrum framework
Knowledge of the software development life cycle
Required People & Leadership Skills:
Must have strong interpersonal skills to work with guiding new teams on their agile journey with scrum
Must have strong communication skills, both verbal and written
Change management skills with strong EQ to measure the tolerance for change within a team
Strong collaboration and influencing skills; Ability to establish and maintain strong relationships with team members and Product
Deploys strong communication and problem-solving skills at the team level
Exhibits patience and resilience in the absence of clear signs of success and progression
Education & Experience Level:
  • Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) certifications preferred
  • 1+ years working as a dedicated scrum master to 1-2 teams in parallel
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 4+ years technology experience, with at least 2+ years direct experience in Agile delivery
  • Certified Scrum Master (CSM) / Professional Scrum Master (PSM) required
NYC Pay Range: from $65.00 per hour to $75.00 per hour.
