Job Description

Essential Functions
  • Assist with the Design / Engineering / Planning / Implementation & Maintenance of local DCS systems in all major markets
  • Assist with the Design / Engineering / Planning / Implementation & Maintenance of the Company's local fiber and access networks in all major US Markets
  • Assist with the Design / Engineering / Planning / Implementation & Maintenance of the Company's nationwide IP/MPLS Backbone
  • Assist with the automation of network-related processes
  • Develop and document processes and solutions for internal distribution and cross-team training.
  • Assist with the Design / Engineering / Planning & Implementation of new sites and all necessary support of new market launches
  • Act as escalation contact for the Network Operations group
  • Implement custom network solutions for carrier and enterprise customers.
Required Knowledge and Experience
The ideal candidate will have skill and experience in some or all of the following areas:
  • Working experience utilizing python and shell scripting
  • Working Experience with Saltstack, or other configuration management systems.
  • Experience supporting carrier and enterprise level accounts as a point of technical escalation.
  • Automation Framework experience (e.g., Nornir, Ansible, Stackstorm)
  • Hands-on IOS/IOSXR/JunOS Experience – Switch and router configuration and management from the command line
  • Experience with custom data collection, manipulation, and presentation (e.g., RRD/Cacti, Graphite/Grafana)
  • Carrier-level or large enterprise IPv4, IPv6, MPLS, BGP experience
  • Experience in service provider or large enterprise monitoring and surveillance systems (e.g., NMIS, CheckMK, Nagios)
  • Experience with workflow and process systems interoperation (e.g., Salesforce, Pagerduty, Wrike, Trello, Slack, MSTeams)
  • Working understanding of Network Security fundamentals and practice
  • Experience supporting carrier and enterprise voip and data services.
  • Ethernet, including recent MEF and IEEE standards
Minimum Qualifications:
  • 1-3 years experience in operations or engineering environments or relevant college course-work experience.

  • Way of Work: Here at Peerless Network, we are open to remote candidates but if the hire is near our Chicago office or in the Greater Chicago area, we would encourage them to have a hybrid schedule and take advantage of our local office.
  • Salary Range: An annual salary base of $75-90K (the salary of the selected candidate will be based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to job-related knowledge, experience, education, skill set, and internal equity).
