Junior Engineering Technician
Overview:
The GBS Group, an engineering services and consulting firm, is seeking a Junior Engineering Technician to join our team in the Philadelphia Navy Yard. The GBS Group designs and delivers high technology services and solutions to most advanced naval and maritime ships, as well as to special purpose platforms and assets. Our office is located at the Philadelphia Navy Yard, which is a dynamic urban development, offering the Philadelphia region a unique and centrally-located waterfront business campus committed to smart energy innovation and sustainability. The Navy Yard has over 20 acres of parks, one mile of waterfront trail and is located less than one-half mile from the Wells Fargo Center, Lincoln Financial Field, Citizens Bank Park, as well as the retail/entertainment center Xfinity Live!
Responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):
  • Support our customers by providing engineering, technical, planning and management, logistics and administrative support for design, development, testing, troubleshooting, integration of technological improvements, execution, prototype demonstration, installation coordination, training and life cycle support functions, for Machinery Control, Damage Control, Condition Base Maintenance, and related Systems and equipment, for all U.S. Navy, Coast Guard, Army, Military Sealift Command and Foreign Military ships supported by the U.S. Navy.
Qualifications:
Candidates must possess the following professional experience and
qualifications:
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance.
  • U. S. Citizenship.
  • Three (3) years experience in the operation, maintenance, testing, and repair of U.S. Navy systems and equipment.
  • High school graduate/GED or graduate from military school which provided an in-depth knowledge of naval shipboard systems maintenance and operation; or graduate of a trade, industrial or correspondence school for engineering.
Desired Characteristics:
  • Knowledge of major concepts, practices, and procedures associated with shipboard control systems.
  • Knowledge of U.S. Navy organizations, functions, and responsibilities.
  • Ability to travel up to 20%.
