KBR is looking for a Junior Chemist to support the Materials Engineering Branch (MEB) at the Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC) in Greenbelt, MD. The Junior Chemist will perform a variety of laboratory testing and analysis in support of the various projects ongoing at GSFC. This role works with other engineers as well as independently, as needs dictate.

Responsibilities:

• Follow protocols and safety requirements established for your assigned laboratory(s)
• Prepare reports or memoranda addressing objectives, techniques, results, conclusions, and recommendations
• Perform laboratory testing, synthesize data, and perform data analysis
• Stay current on technologies for your assigned analytical and testing instruments.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills:

• A basic knowledge of standard test methods, data analysis, operation of analytical instruments
• B.S. in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or related field
• 0-2 years of related work experience in a laboratory environment

Preferred Skills:

Basic knowledge of analytical techniques including Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and gas chromatography/mass spectrometry
