Job Description
The JA Long Term Substitute will provide instruction to students and ensure continuity of appropriate learning during the absence of permanent teachers or paraprofessionals. Long Term Substitutes perform related duties in lieu of the absent teacher, or in a class that does not have an assigned teacher. This position will report to the Junior Academy each day and is assigned based on operational needs. While based primarily at JA, there may be a need to assist with absences at the Elementary or Senior Academies on occasion. This is a position for the entire 2023-2024 school year.
This is an ESSER III funded position and is not guaranteed past 5/24/2024.
Performance Responsibilities:
  • Monitors students in the classroom, at lunch and throughout the school
  • Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities
  • Perform duties, as assigned, with awareness of Drew Charter School policies and practices
  • Provides classroom instruction to students as outlined in lesson plans
  • Communicates effectively with parents as needed
  • Maintains a professional appearance
  • Creates a classroom that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students
  • Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and times designated
  • Maintains reasonable rules of conduct which encourage self-discipline and responsibility
  • Remains at school the entire school day, unless otherwise instructed to leave by building principal
  • Maintains established routine of the school and classroom procedures in which assigned
  • Maintains a safe and orderly environment
Compensation:
  • $200/day (no benefits offered)
