Akkodis is seeking a Jira Defect Manager for a long-term contract position with an automotive client located in Allen Park, MI.


Pay Range: $55- $60/hour on W2

Duration: Long-term Contract (W2 Only)

Position Description:

This person can be a Test Lead/ PM who has done a lot of Defect management in Jira and needs to be a SMe in it. They will be in Jira all day long assessing the viability of all the bugs that have been logged by the Testers in the tools. They will decide if it is a legitimate error/bug and needs to be pushed through to the Production team to correct OR if it needs more investigation to ascertain its validity. They can take the help of the Ford test leads to validate the bugs added by the Testers Since this team is performing EOL testing this is a very critical role. Must have strong communication skills, shouldn't be afraid of pushing back the Tester/ Leads to ascertain facts.


Job Summary:

The Jira Defect Manager is responsible for overseeing the management of software defects within the Jira defect tracking system. The position requires a thorough understanding of the software development process and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to ensure that defects are identified, prioritized, and resolved in a timely and efficient manner. The Jira Defect Manager will be responsible for coordinating the defect management process, including defect triage, prioritization, and resolution, and ensuring that defects are properly tracked, reported, and communicated to stakeholders.


Key Responsibilities:

Oversee the defect management process within Jira, including defect triage, prioritization, and resolution.

Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to identify, track, and resolve software defects.

Ensure that defects are properly documented, reported, and communicated to stakeholders.

Analyze defect trends and metrics to identify opportunities for process improvements.

Develop and maintain defect management policies and procedures.

Provide guidance and support to development teams on defect resolution and prevention.

Facilitate defect review meetings with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.

Manage the defect backlog and ensure that defects are prioritized appropriately based on severity and impact.

Track and report on defect resolution progress, including status updates and metrics.


Requirements:


Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.

Minimum of 5 years of experience in software development, with a focus on defect management.

Strong understanding of the software development process and the role of defect management.

Experience with Jira or other defect-tracking systems.

Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Knowledge of software testing methodologies and practices.

Experience with Agile software development methodologies is a plus.
