It Security & Risk Internship

The Johnson County Park and Recreation District is looking for a highly motivated and detail -oriented IT Security & Risk Intern. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to kickstart their career in IT security and risk management, learning from experts and gaining hands-on experience in a fast-paced environment. This is a ten-to-twelve week summer internship ranging from 15-20 hours per week Monday through Friday; schedule is flexible.

Responsibilities:

• Assist with security awareness program, including phish week and cybersecurity awareness month
• Assist with development of control activities
• Cybersecurity incident response planning, including tabletop exercises and plan updates
• Risk assessment of IT controls, third party due diligence, and phishing reports
• Monitor and investigate phishing
• Document IT security procedures
• Map IT controls within governance risk and compliance software

Skills and Knowledge:

Good communication skills, both written and verbal to present to all levels of the organization to make IT accessible

Desire to apply technical knowledge into skills to mitigate risk to organization

Ability to manage project timelines

Prepare presentations and awareness bulletins for all audiences

Problem solving and understanding of root cause analysis process

Desire to collaborate with other skillsets

Schedule: 15 to 20 hours a week, Monday to Friday with flexible scheduling
