Investigator I Jobs

The purpose of the class is to conduct investigations on behalf of the Richland County Public Defender Office; to identify, obtain, and analyze anecdotal and documentary evidence relevant to a client"s life history and development, including, but not limited to: medical and psychiatric history of clients represented by the Public Defender in order to facilitate positive outcomes and resolutions for individual clients; to assist in preparing cases for trial or other court hearings, and to perform related work as required. The class works within a general outline of work to be performed, and develops work methods and sequences under general supervision.
Requires Associate"s degree, vocational technical degree or specialized training that is equivalent to satisfactory completion of two years of college education with emphasis in criminal justice, social services, or a closely related field.
Must be willing to become a registered private investigator with the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division if not already registered.
Must possess a valid state driver"s license.
Experience preferred but not required.
