Job Description

The position will be part of the Ambulatory Imaging Division. Facilities are located at the Arringdon Duke Health facility located on Arringdon Park drive in Morrisville, NC as well as Holly Springs Imaging located on Irving parkway, Holly Springs.


Hours: coverage needed will be: Monday- Friday 8am-4:30pm


General Description

Perform a variety of technical activities associated with the performance of Interventional procedures within the Ambulatory Radiology Division. The new IR clinic will operate 40 hours a week. Clinic will be closed for Holidays and weekends. There will be no call associated with this position.


This position must support the Ambulatory Radiology Division and perform other duties as assigned and supported by scope of practice. Perform other related duties incidental to the work therein.


Imaging procedural experience required.

Minimum 3 years’ experience


Duties and Responsibilities of this Level

  • Explain procedures to patients.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction and appropriateness of care for all assigned patients. Thoroughly explains the procedures to patients and allows time for questions and addresses concerns in a professional and kind manner.
  • Position patients for each anatomical view using positioning assistance devices and protective equipment as necessary.
  • Perform a variety of tasks involved in operating X-Ray/C-Arm equipment to make radiographs of designated anatomical areas of interest. Adjust equipment for proper radiographic exposure techniques in accordance with radiation safety guidelines.
  • Assume responsibility for the safety, mental and physical comfort of patients while they are in our care.
  • Ensures regulatory guidelines are adhered to and maintain appropriate records.
  • Monitor assigned inventory expiration dates. Monitor inventory levels and par-levels.
  • Accurately process images for optimal quality. Match with appropriate paperwork for interpretation.
  • Perform other related duties incidental to the work herein
  • Provide orientation to new technologists.
  • Charge radiographic procedures in; able to modify orders per protocol. Monitor charging of procedures and supplies for division to ensure correctness.
  • Demonstrate acceptable film quality standards by critiquing positioning, technical factors, and collimation.
  • Assist radiologist during angiographic and interventional procedures. Assist radiologist during procedure to include handling of instruments, operating and monitoring equipment, calling out equipment readings; alerting physician to changes in patient condition.
  • Demonstrate the ability to multi-task as needed and communicate in a positive and efficient matter.
  • Establish and maintain productive ethical working relationships with coworkers, referring providers and commercial agencies.
  • Assist with the daily operations of the diagnostic department across the Ambulatory Platform.
  • Scrub to assist with passage of catheters/guidewires.
  • Schedule patients for procedures; assist with clerical functions.
  • Maintain adequate supplies; allowing for lead time when placing orders.
  • Maintain ALARA principles for patients, staff, and self
  • Perform as a self-starter and takes the initiative to proactively address situations before they arise or escalate.
  • Coordinate with other staff to assure appropriate patient care is provided.
  • Set up sterile trays and other equipment practicing sterile technique.
  • Communicate effectively with the patient and the health care team, recognizing the patient's needs.
  • Maintain a par inventory of catheters, balloons, stents, guidewires, and miscellaneous kits under discretion of manager.
  • Understands and uses the Image Archival System

Required Qualifications at this Level


Education

Completion of an AMA approved School of Radiology Technology


Experience


Level I

Must be ARRT certified.


Level II

Minimum of two years' experience as an Interventional technologist.


Level III

A minimum of 4 years' experience within specialty modality in which they are seeking promotion


Degrees, Licensure, and/or Certification

ARRT certification in radiography

ARRT certification in vascular interventional technology must be obtained within 12 months of hire

BLS certification
