Job Description

Job Purpose:

This position serves as a liaison between the Family Empowerment Program and other Child Saving Institute (CSI) services to provide education and ensure needs of CSI clients related to domestic violence are adequately met. This is a grant-funded position.

Essential Job Duties:

  • Support future funding by assisting with grant writing, data collection, outcome identification and funder solicitation.
  • Assess needs of agency clients impacted or potentially impacted by domestic violence and their children and make recommendations for ongoing intervention.
  • Educate other professionals about the impact of domestic violence.
  • Participate in team meetings and coordinate with other agencies and service providers (e.g., case managers) to advocate on behalf of clients and/or their children.
  • Complete documentation, including assessments, individualized service plans, reports, progress notes, and discharge summaries completed in accordance with agency policies/procedures.
  • Support community awareness projects.
  • Collect required grant data and assist in all reporting requirements of the grant.
  • Provide referrals and assist linking parents to needed resources.
  • Provide groups for adolescents in CSI’s Emergency Shelter and other programs.

Other Duties:

  • Complete necessary Continuing Education Credits in accordance with agency policy.
  • Facilitate a team atmosphere by working in partnership with Women’s Center for Advancement (WCA) staff.
  • Represent the agency to all external stakeholders with maturity and positivity.
  • Participate in consultation and supervision sessions as required.
  • Complete other responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.
  • Complete training as required by grant requirements or supervisor.

Job Requirements:

  • Belief in a nurturing family as the ideal environment for a person and that people have the capacity to grow and change.
  • Minimum age of 21 or older.
  • Bachelor’s degree in social work or related field required; master’s degree preferred.
  • Strong direct service professional skills, including:
  • The needs of neglected, abused, and exploited children and adults,
  • A minimum of one year’s experience related to domestic violence prevention and/or intervention required; two years’ experience preferred.
  • Required knowledge of and skills in:
  • Ability to maintain a helping role, intervene appropriately to meet service goals, and set appropriate limits.
  • Ability to analyze and make recommendations regarding individual cases and (frequently simultaneously) to analyze and apply larger, systemic issues.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to respond to inquiries and complaints from clients and other providers.
  • Ability to collaborate with coworkers and other service providers, and
  • Ability to develop respectful relationships with persons served to help them gain skills and confidence.
  • The child welfare system,
  • Ability to make independent decisions and act accordingly and, when appropriate, to seek the counsel of a supervisor.
  • Family functioning, and
  • Strong skills in diplomacy.
  • Commitment to empowering others to solve their own problems.
  • Experience working with at-risk families or children.
  • Bilingual Spanish/English preferred.
  • Child development.
  • General mathematical skills: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, computation of ratios, etc.
  • Skills in engaging resistant families.
  • Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret forms, documents, evaluations, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to interact with clients with sensitivity to diverse cultural and socioeconomic characteristics.
  • Understanding of domestic violence.

Vehicle Requirements:

  • Proof of insurance that meets agency requirements
  • Own transportation that meets agency vehicle inspection requirements.
  • Valid driver’s license with no more than three points; and

Environment:

  • Hours/schedule will vary and will include evening and weekend hours.
  • The majority of work is a combination of office and a community or home-based environment.
  • Additional work may be performed in a variety of settings to meet department needs.

  • Ability to work on evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Ability to safely operate a vehicle.

Pay: $41,000.00 - $54,000.00 per hour
