POSITION OVERVIEW:

Performs a wide variety of difficult interior design assignments by applying architectural/interior design standards, practices, and techniques. The incumbent at this level is a fully-qualified professional who is proficient in developing creative interior design solutions.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provides technical guidance to lower-level Interior Design Specialists and Architectural Designer/Drafters working on the same project.
  • Coordinates work with engineering and construction units at project site. Visits sites during construction process to ensure compliance with specifications.
  • Develops design concepts and design criteria including furniture layouts and finish specifications.
  • Familiarity with System and Modular Furniture design preferred.
  • Supports business development activities by participating in proposal development and providing visual aids (e.g., finish boards, etc.) for client presentations .
  • Keeps abreast of current technologies via technical subscriptions and attendance at conferences.
  • Reviews CAD drawings, renderings, layouts, study models, construction documents, and color boards prepared by lower-level Interior Design Specialists and Architectural Designers. Ensures compliance with applicable codes, standards, and client requirements.
  • Writes construction specifications and prepares detailed requisitions for materials and furniture. Interfaces with suppliers as required.
  • Coordinates day-to-day activities including relocation and inventory management.
  • Recommends refinements to interior design standards.
  • Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.
  • Performs a variety of assignments related to interior design studies including: conducting client interviews and building site surveys, programming, space planning and analysis, and preparation of construction documents.
  • Researches interior products and provides recommendations for color, finish, and material selection.

Supervision Received - Project Architect/Interior Design Specialist; Project Manager
Supervision Given - Lower-level Interior Design Specialists; Architectural Designer/Drafters (technical guidance only)
Internal Contacts - All employees on project
External Contacts - Suppliers; Client



EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture or Interior Design (or equivalent) is required with typically 8+ years of related experience.
  • Additional relevant certifications (e.g., PMPTM, LEEDTM, CCM) are preferred.
  • NCIDQ (National Council for Interior Design Qualification) Certification is or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire date is required at this level.



SKILLS/COMPETENCIES:

Requires proficiency in the application of interior design standards, practices, techniques, and concepts. Proficiency in CAD and other PC software packages typically associated with interior design is also required. The ability to make presentations to clients and others is preferred.

***Must be US person and able to approve for US federal government project accesses.

***Relocation and per diem are unavailable for this position. Local candidates are preferred.

Salary Range:

$81,500.00 - $142,600.00
