Job Responsibilities


Are you an experienced professional looking for new opportunities to further your career? The South Carolina Commission for the Blind is seeking a hardworking and dependable candidate just like you to apply!


This Intake Specialist is responsible for providing referral, intake, and case management services for blind and visually impaired consumers. Intake services include gathering medical information and other documentation for the purpose of eligibility determination.


Responsibilities


  • Collect medical information and other documents to support eligibility determination for the counselor.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Consult with Counselors and other team members to monitor compliance metrics and case progress.
  • Conduct consumer intake; interview, screen, evaluate consumer needs, and discuss program goals.
  • Assist the regional office with other administrative tasks and office coverage.
  • Develop community contacts and other benefits for referral to other agencies.


Minimum And Additional Requirements


A high school diploma and relevant human services or social services experience. A bachelor's degree may be substituted for the required experience.


Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work. Ability to communicate effectively. Ability to maintain records. Knowledge of community resources. Knowledge of medical and psychological aspects of disability. Knowledge of case management processes.


Ability to make decisions and work independently. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others. Responsible for meeting all designated productivity standards in a quality manner with minimal supervision.


The job operates in a professional office environment. This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to move files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand as necessary.


Preferred Qualifications


Experience in a public vocational rehabilitation program.
