Job Description
We are currently seeking an enthusiastic Insurance Verification Specialist to join our dynamic team! As an Insurance Verification Specialist, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that our clients and patient's insurance coverage, medical necessity, authorization, and referral requirements are accurately verified. You will provide exceptional support to our Shared Services Center and client hospitals across the country, contributing to the success of our revenue cycle.
Responsibilities
Utilize established verification processes to verify detailed insurance benefits, medical necessity, and authorization/referral guidelines, while consistently prioritizing tasks.
Communicate outstanding documentation requests, required account follow-up, and address payor issues promptly to the appropriate facility contacts.
Maintain performance standards to ensure peak proficiency within the department, consistently achieving established goals. Foster effective communication with patients, physicians, medical office staff, as well as internal and external colleagues.
Use our estimation tool to calculate the estimated patient financial responsibility accurately.
Document all actions performed in the applicable host system(s) promptly.
Complete any other assigned or requested duties while adhering to strict deadlines.
Qualifications
Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent.
Experience: Minimum of 1 year of experience in a medical office, medical insurance company, or healthcare facility.
Knowledge: Familiarity with CPT, ICD-10, and medical terminology.
Certification: Preferred certification as a Certified Professional Coder (CPC).
Skills and Abilities: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Strong interpretation skills for understanding a wide range of payer requirements. Proficiency in host systems, ancillary applications, and payor web applications is desirable.
