Job Description
Holston Valley Ambulatory Surgery Center is seeking an experienced Insurance Verification professional to join our team. Holston Valley Ambulatory Surgery Center is a fast paced ASC environment committed to producing the highest quality work and experience for patients and their families.


The Insurance Verification Clerk is responsible for validating and entering patient information and insurance coverage into the appropriate computer system. Duties may also include communicating with physician offices, insurance carriers, and patient follow-ups. This individual is responsible for contacting patient or responsible party to notify them of their financial responsibility in a timely and professional manner.


  • Demonstrates knowledge of hospital billing practices.
  • Answers departmental bell for patient assistance.
  • Answers departmental telephones as necessary.
  • Participates in development of Policies and Procedures within the department.
  • Mathematical skills required to calculate percentages, etc.
  • Possesses the ability to deal tactfully with patients and physician office staff.
  • Understanding procedures for calculating patient out-of-pocket responsibilities.
  • Adheres to Policies and Procedures as defined by Infection Control.
  • Capability to work with rigid deadlines while maintain a high degree of accuracy.
  • Sound knowledge of managed care reimbursement methodologies.
  • Confirms proper demographic, insurance, and financial information from the patient or guarantor and ensure the information in the computer is correct.
  • Perform high quality work.
  • Enters information in computer system in an accurate manner.

Required Skills:


  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 3 years' of medical insurance verification REQUIRED
  • Skilled in time management and prioritization
  • Good customer service skills, always demonstrates professionalism.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
