Position Announcement

Utah Valley University is seeking a part-time Instructional Assistant II! Working under the direction of the course Instructor and/or department Director, evaluates correspondence, documents, and assesses materials prepared by Distance Education departmental students. Maintains a variety of class/student information on the Learning Management System (LMS). May tutor individual or small groups of students, as needed.

Summary Of Responsibilities

• Updates course syllabus, quizzes, exams or other logistical documentation (excluding course content).
• Maintains student interactions through email/phone and tutoring individuals and small groups and large study sessions as scheduled by the instructor.
• Grades tests, assignments, and communication postings, discussion board, for participation, content and form according to instructor-supplied rubric.
• Grades written assignments, essays, position papers, article reviews, not including discussion postings.
• Monitors student progress and course participation, on discussion board, tracks missing assignments, and records scores in the Learning Management System.

Minimum Qualifications

Graduation from an accredited institution with a bachelor\'s degree in related major or any combination of education and/or experience related to the Summary of Duties totaling four years is required.

Knowledge, Skill, and Abilities

Knowledge

• Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheets, Learning Management System and presentation software.

Skills

• Skills in verbal and written communication to provide concrete and effective feedback.

Abilities

• Ability to maintain confidentiality of student records.
• Ability to work independently, make decisions, follow verbal and written instructions and meet deadlines.
• Ability to assess student work according to faculty and general instructional standards.
