Position Summary:

Provides assistance so that students make meaningful progress toward reaching their full potential as learners. Meets the responsibilities of the position in a quality manner with an open mind toward performance improvement recommendations, so that all resources are utilized efficiently. Is accountable for student conduct and upholding center rules and goals. Supports the Principal in all facets of the program including maintenance, discipline, progress. Is accountable to the Principal for performing all duties as assigned.

Position Details:

  • Implements all policies and procedures outlined in Ombudsman issued manuals in a manner consistent with the educational goals and philosophy of Ombudsman. Participates in activities within the center at various levels, with particular attention to documentation and filing.
  • Operates with general direction from the Principal and Lead Teacher and functions as an integral part of the Ombudsman team. Supports the Principal in decisions regarding the operation of the center. Works with students to motivate them toward success. Refers to the Principal and/or Lead Teacher for matters beyond the designated scope of responsibility of the position.
  • Assists the Principal in maintaining the physical center, furniture, and supplies in a neat and orderly condition according to procedures. Ensures that the center and the outside surrounding area are neat, clean, well maintained and present an organized and professional appearance at all times, and provides a positive learning environment conducive to the education of students. Is responsible for the proper use and cleanliness of equipment.
  • Has positive verbal contact with each student every day. Ensures that students are meeting the program expectations as outlined in the Enrollment Agreement. Motivates students and encourages each student to meet academic goals through daily instructional interaction.

Experience

Required
  • Clerical skills for typing and preparation of reports
  • Some college- Associate's degree or Bachelor's degree preferred.
Preferred
  • Ability to motivate students and encourage each student to meet academic goals through daily instructional interaction.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the curriculum and procedures as outlined.

Education

Required
  • Associates or better

Licenses & Certifications

Preferred
  • Paraprofessional
  • Substitute Licensure
