What You Will Do: :

The Machine Operator performs moderately complex set-ups; optimizes machine parameters and inputs on machines in their work centers with limited supervision. Works on assignments moderately complex in nature where judgment is required in resolving problems and making routine recommendations; requires general instructions on new lines of work or special assignments. This position specifically performs technician responsibilities by setting up and operating injection-molding machines.

Primary Responsibilities: :
  • Executes work order scheduling, and dispatch list maintenance.
  • Perform SPC on process to help eliminate variation.
  • Sets up and operates Engel plastic injection molding machines running from 45 to 85 tons.
  • May assist in inventory management, and preventive maintenance.
  • Set up and troubleshoot new first-time molds.
  • Performs complex set ups, optimize parameters, and identify ideas to improve.
  • Prepare materials for drying for use the next business day.
  • Maintains the highest ethical standards, even when challenged from above.
  • Proactive mindset related to the day at hand and the next day to follow concerning materials and machine/die prepping.
  • Estimates time and materials required to complete an assignment.
  • - Shift is M-F 2:30pm - 11:00pm with overtime as required (hybrid 1st/2nd shift for 2 to 3 months while in training)
  • Learn to process over 100 different materials.
  • Communicates effectively and participates in continuous improvement and problem-solving efforts.
  • Understands and lives by the Korry culture.
  • Operates computer and applicable software to document quality records.
  • Plans and executes moderately complex assignments using machine tools.

Education :
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Trade school certification a plus.

Experience :
• 2-5 years’ related machining required.

Specialized Skills and Abilities :
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and drawings.
  • Capable of troubleshooting complex molds with minimal supervision.
  • Capable of altering simple programs, adjusts codes to work through material obstacles.
  • Exhibits strong communication skills.
  • Self-sufficient in all areas of responsibility.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, and analytical skills.
  • Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish assigned tasks and goals.
  • Ability to set up and troubleshoot plastic injection molding machine and tooling.
  • Proficient with reading work-order schedules to production information; the size, type, and quantity to process.
  • Machinery & operational personal safety knowledge.
  • Works well with others as an equal team member, sharing and learning.
  • Safety conscious behavior.
  • Create and document setups and record maintenance.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent attendance.
  • Ability to use and calibrate gauge settings and equipment to recognize the condition of dies.
  • Solid understanding of Lean principles.
  • Ability to work with engineering and toolmakers to optimize the process.
  • You must be a "US Person."
  • Willing to work extra hours, and potentially weekends as needed.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Adherence to health and safety regulations.

Physical Requirements: :
• Lift, carry, push and or pull 1-50 lbs. frequently.
• Squat/kneel, bend/stoop, crawl, twist/turn, grasp and reach overhead and outward frequently.
• Sit, stand, and walk for 1 – 10 hours per day.
• Work in a fast-paced industrial environment wearing vision protection, steel-toed shoes, and appropriate protective clothing.


Work Environment: :
This role operates in a professional manufacturing environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually at a moderately lower level. This is a fabrication shop environment with higher-than-normal cleanliness standards that must be maintained. Ample air flow (circulation) and cooling is provided. Standard safety equipment (protective eyewear and footwear) is mandatory to be used in the fabrication area while working. This role routinely uses machinery that requires close vision and the ability to adjust focus. High reliance on hand dexterity.
