Job Description

Duties

If selected for this position, you will be responsible for the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of systems, networks, and data through the implementation, maintenance, and enhancement of information systems security programs, policies, procedures, and tools. Typical work assignments will include:

  • Providing customers technical and administrative assistance, troubleshoot IT problems.
  • Providing basic advice and guidance on a various IT issues, such as those involving technical or functional requirements, hardware or software configurations, interconnectivity, installation or implementation issues, and administrative matters.
  • Administering information technology (IT) principles, methods, and security products to protect and maintain the availability, integrity, confidentiality, and accountability of information system resources.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Managing agency's network drives and ability of employees to access remotely.

Qualifications

IT Basic Requirements:

You qualify for the GS-11 grade level if you possess Information Technology related experience demonstrating each of the four required competencies:
  • Attention to Detail - Monitoring network performance.
  • Problem Solving - Assisting in identifying cybersecurity problem areas.
  • Oral Communication - Communicating the importance of cybersecurity to stakeholders; and
  • Customer Service - Assisting customers by trouble shooting IT problems;
AND

Specialized Experience:

A. You must have at least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-09 level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors) performing the following duties:
  • Analyzing program procedures to ensure compliance with cybersecurity policies; and
  • Monitoring network systems for suspicious activity;
  • Maintaining hardware and/or software inventory to advise management on upgrades or maintenance needed.
OR

B. Successful completion of a Doctorate or Ph.D., or equivalent degree, or three (3) full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such at degree; at an accredited college or university with a degree in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management or degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks.

C. You have less than one year of specialized experience as described in A and less than 3 years of graduate level education as described in B that, when combined; equal 100% of the qualification requirement.
