Fisher & Phillips is a national employment and labor law firm and we are looking for an experienced Immigration Paralegal to work for us remotely as a National resource for all of Immigration offices. In this role, the Immigration Paralegal provides quality and specialized document preparation and has extensive client contact and works collaboratively and cooperatively with others in a team-oriented Immigration Department. This is a cohesive team which is well-managed and well-organized with secretarial and clerical support.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Under direction of Attorney, take lead with client communications for intake of cases, collection of documents and information, and troubleshooting issues.
  • As directed, make contact with government agencies to obtain information regarding any potential process delays or problems and communicates the same to attorney.
  • Provide guidance about software systems and case processing to clients and foreign nationals as directed.
  • Maintains an exceptional client service attitude and professional demeanor at all times.
  • Familiar with all types of employment-based immigration practices; and familiar with J1 program administration.
  • Willing and capable to offer assistance to others when needed.
  • Manage status of all filed applications and petitions per policy and utilize Firm document, data management, and accounting/billing systems to prepare, monitor, and record all aspects of work.
  • Shows initiative, flexibility, resiliency and a willingness to adapt to change.
  • Evaluate cases, communicate concerns, and proactively and appropriately escalate if/as necessary.
  • Contributes to an atmosphere of teamwork and congeniality.
  • Able to juggle multiple assignments and/or deadlines while maintaining a professional demeanor and timely seeks assistance when needed.
  • Competent case handling while developing wider knowledge base and increased level of independence.
  • Run weekly case reports for attorney/s using INSZoom Reports and may be requested to run client reports for attorney calls with clients from INSZoom Reports.
  • Draft petition forms, support letters and assemble supporting documents for attorney review.
  • Competent with case management and other reporting tools and technologies used to manage data and information.
  • Maintains a positive, “can do” attitude when dealing with clients, co-workers and attorneys.
  • Takes ownership and gets the job done without the need for prodding or supervision.
  • Work in a team environment while building knowledge of Firm, client and Immigration processes.
  • Conduct pertinent research as necessary to gather information, e.g. background on a company or industry, current wages, processing procedures, standard processing times, etc.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Takes ownership and gets the job done without the need for prodding or supervision.

  • Maintains a positive, “can do” attitude when dealing with clients, co-workers and attorneys.
  • Must have 3+ years J1 program experience; experience as Responsible Officer or Alternate Responsible Officer preferred. Experience preparing H-1B, L-1, TN and PERM applications, preferably in a large law firm environment.
  • Maintains an exceptional client service attitude and professional demeanor at all times.
  • Proficiency in Word, Outlook, LawLogix or INSZoom and a document management system.
  • Shows initiative, flexibility, resiliency and a willingness to adapt to change.
  • Successful candidates will possess strong business writing skills, and will value attention to detail.
  • Outstanding case management and organizational skills are necessary

The salary range for this position is $85,000 - $105,000. Actual base pay within this range will be determined by several components, including but not limited to, relevant experience, internal equity, skills, qualifications, job location, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
