Job Summary:

Manufacturing and Production Technicians use their hands and tools to fabricate and assemble complex prototypical mechanical and electrical systems that support the designs created by their engineering colleagues. M&P Technicians are often called upon to support complex mock-ups in multiple sites and to participate in installations for new or renovated attractions. These are hands-on technical positions that demand advanced training in mechanical trades

CORE FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Collaborate directly with QC and Engineering functions to identify, correct, and mitigate deviations from assembly requirements
  • Contribute to the ongoing project estimating and scheduling effort by accurately assessing and communicating assembly progress
  • Participate in project goals as outlined by production leadership, including mock-up, integration, and troubleshooting of various assemblies
  • Provide technical oversight to outside vendors contracted to produce animation
  • Provide direct input into a review of company standards relative to the design and production of various assemblies
  • Develop, introduce, and oversee new ideas to enhance work processes and display the initiative to carry through to implementation
  • Direct fabrication & manufacturing of complex, prototypical mechanical assemblies with a strong focus on GTAW, FCAW, and GMAW processes
  • Support the design and development of an internal weld program, including maintaining equipment & supplies, developing processes for weldment design & WPS selection, and establishing clear training standards and practices

TECHNICAL SKILLS:

  • Proficient in GTAW processes and procedures for both ferrous and non-ferrous materials
  • Experience utilizing various weld positions as defined by AWS standards, specifically 3G, 4G, and/or 6G
  • Able to perform welding operations to meet specified performance standards and tolerances utilizing various materials, thicknesses, processes, and techniques
  • Strong familiarity with AWS standards and techniques, specifically AWS D1.1 and/or AWS D1.6
  • Experience supporting, facilitating, or performing non-destructive testing related to weldments

MECHANICAL SKILLS:

  • Measurement to tight tolerance, cutting, machining, and grinding skills
  • Ability to design simple parts and mechanisms
  • Experience with mechanical design and assemblies
  • Familiarity with Solidworks, AutoCAD and/or Mastercam
  • Ability to read and interpret fabrication and assembly drawings

Basic Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience in a collaborative work environment working across technical disciplines
  • Read and interpret fabrication and assembly drawings
  • Understanding of mechanism design and assembly
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant industry experience
  • Able to perform welding operations to meet specified performance standards and tolerances utilizing various materials, thicknesses, processes, and techniques
  • Basic working knowledge of MS Office products (Word, Excel, and Outlook)
  • Experience with physical mechanics, CNC programming in G code
  • Ability to make technical choices and decisions without guidance from the lead or executive management

Desired Qualification

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in mechanical fabrication and assembly with military, industrial, or aerospace experience
  • Ability to perform and pass a 3G & 4G Weld Test using GTAW per AWS D1.1
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant industry experience, with a strong focus on welding

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • College or trade school degree preferred or equivalent work experience

The hiring range for this position in California is $69,946.00 to $93,830.00 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
