Job Description
What to Expect
Tesla is seeking an Electrical and Instrumentation Technician to support Battery Mineral and Metals R&D and pilot line projects in Reno, Nevada.
E&I activities include supporting equipment in development, installation, commissioning, retrofitting and production. This role will work closely with engineering (mechanical, process, electrical and controls) to handle fast paced challenges in an innovative design space.

What You’ll Do
  • Experience with starters and VFDs
  • Experience with instrumentation including flow, level, pressure and temperature measuring devices
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Knowledge when working with low voltage (24 VDC – 480 VAC) power distribution, cabinet design, fabrication and commissioning
  • 4+ years working with industrial automation systems
  • Experience with analog control valves and discrete on/off valves
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks with differing priorities
  • Familiarity with using electrical instruments: DMM, scope, Network analyzer, and mechanical tools for diagnosing and repairing equipment.
  • Familiarity with cable tray, conduit and cable installation
What You’ll Bring
  • Basic mechanical assembly tasks including: bolting brackets, cover and using basic hand tools
  • Collaborate with relevant teams to determine optimal locations to install hardware
  • Schematic revisions using ePlan and Autocad
  • Troubleshooting electrical and instrumentation designs for packaged equipment
  • Commissioning low voltage electrical and control systems and ensuring equipment runs as designed
  • Small scale electrical and instrumentation installation for low voltage applications
  • Support engineers as they iterate on system designs by providing direct feedback on how systems can be installed and functioning more effectively
  • Minor PLC code change based on Engineer instruction.
