Ice Cream Associate-Full Time

The Ice Cream Associate works in the front-end department of our store and is responsible for delighting our guests while preparing and merchandising our products. This department includes hand-scooped ice cream cones or cups, milkshakes, fruit smoothies, and other sweet and salty treats. They are also responsible for cash handling, till accuracy, and guest satisfaction. The Ice Cream Associate is often the last point of contact in the store, so it is pertinent they always display a friendly smile and energetic demeanor. They are expected to adhere and model Detwiler's high standards of cleanliness and safety.
MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

• Must have basic knowledge of math, weights, and measures.
• Must be able to lift up to fifty (50) pounds.
• Must have strong communication skills for dealing with customers.
• Must maintain the highest level of customer service at all times.
• Ice cream, cashier or grocery experience is preferred, but not necessary.
• Must be able to take initiative when problems arise and have the flexibility to adapt to a variety of situations.
• Must have ability to multitask and stay organized.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Repetitive Action – Hand-Scooping ice cream, processing merchandise, typing PLU numbers.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, potentially high-stress environment.
• Must be able to stand for extended periods of time and move bags/boxes of merchandise.
• Working Conditions – Inside temperature controlled, cooler, freezer.
• Machines, Tools, Equipment – Ice Cream Scoops, blenders, knives, calculators, cash register, Point of Sale (POS) System, cash, register conveyor belt.
• Physical Demands - Standing, walking, reaching, bending, twisting, ability to carry/lift 50lbs, and push/pull 200lbs.
• Ability to enter the freezer, thereby being subjected to cold temperatures for extended periods of time.
