Hvac Apprentice/Helper Jobs

Position: HVAC Apprentice/ Helper

Reports To: Manager/ Technician

These duties may be described as, but not limited to:

• Be able to follow direction from supervisor to perform maintenance and general repair of equipment around the properties and or hotels.
• Respond to emergencies as directed.
• Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, employees may be required to work varying schedules. In addition, attendance at all scheduled training sessions and meetings are required.
• Completing assigned tasks and accurate record keeping of work.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

• Must be able to bend, stoop, squat and stretch to complete maintenance tasks.
• Must be able to lift 25 pounds on a regular and continuing basis, frequently lift 50 pounds, and occasionally with assistance lift to 100 pounds.
• Must be able to work safely on ladders.
• Must be able to stand and exert well-paced mobility for up to 4 hours in length.
• Requires manual dexterity to use and operate all necessary equipment.
• Must read, write, and understand the primary language used in the workplace.
• Basic knowledge to assist Technician(s) troubleshooting, replacing and installing A/C components plus, related electrical and plumbing repairs.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Be willing to track work assigned over a training period to complete the schedule of on-the-job-learning.
• All employees must maintain a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance as per company standards.
• Must have the ability to obtain and/or maintain any government required licenses, certificates or permits.
• High school, Tech or equivalent education required.
• Must possess basic concepts & understanding of air conditioning and cooling equipment.

Trade Requirements for Training:

• Under direction of Technician, safely handle refrigerants, equipment containing pressurized liquids and gases and other related chemicals used within HVAC and other trades
• Care and use of tools such as cutters, torches & pipe benders, etc…
• Use of testing and measuring devices such as gauges, sensors, scales, etc…
• Assist and learn to assemble piping, soldering & brazing plus, testing of related equipment

Note: There is an apprenticeship program potentially being develop with the County and Department of Labor. This program has not been approved and at present not part of the requirements stated above. Candidates may be required to complete the requirements outlined in the Apprenticeship(s) if selected.
