Overview


Job Summary


Sojourner Center’s Housekeeper is responsible for the cleanliness and overall first impression of the campus. This person understands that a clean, clutter-free, well-maintained campus provides a healing environment for survivors of domestic abuse, sexual assault and sex trafficking. The Housekeeper is responsible for creating and executing a cleaning schedule for all facilities.


Responsibilities


Essential Functions


  • Identifies and adapts to crisis events, applying crisis intervention and prevention techniques.
  • Maintains facilities in a clean, sanitary, safe and orderly condition by performing a full range of housekeeping duties.
  • Cleans windows and areas of common use such as floor sinks, mop sinks and counters.
  • Unplugs toilets using a - plunger.
  • Replaces light bulbs.
  • Duties include routine and special cleaning of facilities: sweeps, mops, and waxes floor surfaces of many types.
  • Vacuums and shampoos carpets; dusts, waxes, washes, and polishes furniture.
  • Identifies unlabeled bottles of cleaning solutions/materials and ensures proper labeling and SDS sheets.
  • Provides on-site facility coordination services, including monitoring gates, completing safety checks, cleaning and preparing rooms, monitoring the cleanliness of the campus, providing special cleanup when requested and submitting work orders as needed.
  • Keeps an inventory of housekeeping supplies and equipment and stocks housekeeping closets as needed.
  • Identifies, secures and reports unsafe conditions immediately, following OSHA safety guidelines.
  • Reports all unsafe conditions and hazards such as blood or sharp objects, malfunctioning doors or windows.
  • Wears safety gear such as gloves, dust mask, and goggles as required.
  • Performs cleaning and disinfecting tasks in residential rooms and vacant apartments. Supports residents and staff at the support desk throughout shift.
  • Cleans walls, empties wastebaskets, cleans and sanitizes restrooms.
  • Replace batteries in units
  • Works with chemicals and cleaning solutions on a daily basis.
  • Creates and adheres to a cleaning schedule that includes daily duties as well as deep-cleaning projects.
  • Power washes sidewalks, rakes sand and gravel in playground and common areas; picks up trash throughout the community.

Education, Experience, And Other Requirements


  • Ability to obtain a Level I Fingerprint Clearance Card.
  • Any combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge and abilities to perform the work.
  • Valid Arizona Driver License, proof of automobile insurance and Motor Vehicle Record acceptable to Sojourner Center’s insurance company.
  • Experience using specialized equipment specific to this job description.
  • Driving agency or own vehicle to travel from campus to campus.
  • At least age 21.


Physical Factors/Working Conditions


  • Exposure to various cleaning substances/chemicals.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Some travel between work locations may be required.
