The Role Itself


Sunrise is currently seeking a Housekeeper to work in a therapeutic hospital setting providing housekeeping services to both clinical and non-clinical areas. Previous housekeeping experience in a healthcare facility is strongly preferred.


Responsible to maintain a clean, sanitary, and pleasing environment for patients, staff and guests. Duties include dusting, vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, sanitizing and removing trash. Assures that toiletry and linen needs are replenished at all times. Inventories and orders cleaning supplies and equipment. Ensures, in conjunction with the plant operations department, a safe and risk-free environment within OSHA regulations and hospital standards. Housekeeper job responsibilities include:
  • Submit any patient personal belongings left behind to nursing supervisor.
  • Clear areas with disinfectants.
  • Report any needed repairs immediately to supervisor (such as leaky faucets or toilets, missing nuts or screws, beds needing repair, etc).
  • Follows instructions in use of germicidal solutions when cleaning.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Vacuum, dust, mop, sweep, and take out trash.
  • Responsible for disposal of trash, waste, and other disposable materials in accordance with OSHA.
  • Refill supplies (paper products, soap, etc.)
  • Use safety precautions in all housekeeping services.
  • Assures that supply closets are kept clean and orderly.
  • Report any situations that may affect health and well-being of patients or employees.
  • Ensure that adequate linens are kept in the hospital.
  • Follows P&Ps for terminal cleaning of a room.
  • Perform routine cleaning tasks of patient rooms, offices, and public areas while ensuring a safe and risk preventative environment within OSHA regulations.


Job Requirements:


Education:


  • High school diploma or GED required.


Work Experience:


  • One (1) year of experience in healthcare environmental service is preferred.


Other Requirements


  • Teamwork, flexibility needed to fulfill job responsibilities, adapting to changes in work environment and accepting supervisory feedback.
  • Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
