Position Title: Hitchman/Spotter

Raleigh/ Durham, NC

Reports To: Crane Supervisor/Foreman

Job Summary

The Crane Hitchman / Spotter will be responsible for assisting the crane operator during lifting operations. The successful candidate will be expected to provide hand signals to the crane operator, ensure that the load is properly rigged, and oversee the safe and efficient movement of the load. The Crane Hitchman Spotter must have experience in heavy lifting operations and be able to work in a fast-paced, environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance and inspections of the crane and rigging equipment
• Always monitor the load and adjust as necessary to ensure that it is stable and secure
• Ensure that all safety protocols are followed, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
• Oversee the safe and efficient movement of the load
• Assist with the assembly and disassembly of the crane as needed
• Ensure that all lifting operations are conducted in accordance with relevant regulations and standards
• Maintain accurate records of all lifting operations
• Provide hand signals and communication to the crane operator during lifting operations
• Ensure that the crane is properly set up and that the load is properly rigged

Qualifications

• Knowledge of hand signals and communication methods used in lifting operations
• Knowledge of rigging and lifting techniques
• Ability to work at heights and in all weather conditions
• Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Hitchman Spotter or similar role
• Excellent communication skills
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
• Strong attention to detail and focus on safety
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to lift to 75 pounds
• Must be able to work at heights and in all weather conditions
• Must be able to stand for extended periods of time
• Must be able to climb stairs and ladders
