Job Description

Description of Duties

This position is under the direct supervision of an HAIP/AS Epidemiologist. The HDA communicates and collaborates on a regular basis with the supervisor, HAIP/AS program lead, and other colleagues.

This position has primary responsibility to use data from multiple sources to ascertain the number of new COVID cases, deaths and related factors such as vaccination rates in healthcare facilities as well as analyze data from onsite assessments that characterize the implementation of infection prevention and control activities using SAS and R. This position will also evaluate and develop ways to improve reporting, identification and classification of COVID-19 outbreak data from healthcare facilities.

  • Identify common errors in data sources by writing code in SAS and R
  • Acquire data from different sources and people
  • Collaborate with colleagues to discuss methods and results
  • Email healthcare facilities that report out of range data or didn't report data using MS Outlook
  • Modify and maintain existing SAS and R code as needed to adjust to changes in data reporting and department needs
  • Inspect, filter, and “clean” data by writing code in SAS and R
  • Develop methods and computer programs using SAS and R to integrate multiple sources of data
  • Assist healthcare facilities to submit accurate complete data by providing technical assistance via email and occasionally the phone
  • Discern differences between different data sources to determine which are most valid, which can be improved upon and develop ways to reconcile them, when possible
  • Use industry standard approaches to store data, write code and comments, and when naming files
  • Seek and develop process improvements when analyzing data in SAS and R
  • Write and distribute reports that characterize data in SAS and R and MS Word
  • Work on other projects as directed

PERFORMANCE STANDARDS

The DOH reserves the right to reject or remove any unqualified contract staff if they cannot perform their duties at an acceptable level. The supplier is expected to replace the contract staff ASAP depending on the needs of DOH.

DRESS CODE

When work is performed in the Health and Welfare Building, ID must always be worn and must be clearly visible and readable. The HDA shall dress in a manner that conveys professionalism; typically, in a “business casual” style.

When working remotely, there is no dress code.
