Summary This National Guard position is for a HEALTH TECHNICIAN (part-time) (Title 32), Position Description Number D1724000 and is part of the 151st Operations Support Squadron located in Salt Lake City, with the Utah Air National Guard. This vacancy is RESTRICTED to current military members of the Utah Air National Guard. The selecting supervisor for this vacancy is LT COL JACOB JOHNSON. PART TIME TECHNICIAN Responsibilities Major Duties: This is not an all-inclusive list As a HEALTH TECHNICIAN (part-time) (Title 32), GS-0640-8, you will: Develops plans, procedures, goals and objectives in support of the Aerospace Medicine and Force Health Management Programs using an extensive knowledge of Department of Defense (DOD), Occupational Safety Health Administration (OSHA), United States Air Force (USAF) and Air National Guard (ANG) directives, policies and standards. Programs include physical examinations and standards, flight medicine and related aeromedical and force health management concerns. Advises and makes recommendations to senior officials on force health issues related to physical exams, standards and flight medicine activities to ensure compliance. Determines requirements, requests funding and administers accounts for procurement of supplies, equipment, and medical assessment in support of the physical exam process, flight medicine activities and related programs. Implements and maintains the information management systems utilized for aerospace medicine and force health protection programs. Systems include preventive health assessment (PHA) and individual medical readiness (PIMR), Aeromedical Information Management Waiver Tracking System (AIMWTS), Physical Exam Processing Program (PEPP), Grounding Management Information System (GMIS) and other related programs. Functions as the health systems program administrator. Administers the Physical Examinations and Standards (PES) program and serves as a medical expert on related issues. Identifies reports, formulates and recommends solutions to command personnel for resolution of compliance and delinquency trends and patterns which could negatively impact medical readiness. Manages the Reserve Component Periodic Health Assessment (RCPHA) program. Acts as the Medical Group customer service expert. Provides technical medical assistance to medical inquiries and responds to inquiry by researching, compiling information, generating response and providing information through written correspondence, telephone, electronic or in-person response. Monitors the medical status of military personnel. Determines the need for and initiates Medical Evaluation Board (MEB) actions for duty related medical conditions. Determines the need for and initiates worldwide duty evaluations for non-duty related actions. Administers policies and develops procedures for the flight medicine and grounding management programs, which directly affect flying safety and mission readiness. Manages administrative and automated orders system. Provides pre-screening for medical/dental/mental health and evaluation of personnel eligibility for deployment. Performs quality assurance studies on medical issues. Administers the medical records program and acts as the medical records custodian. Must possess a working knowledge of other DOD component medical requirements. Requirements Conditions of Employment MILITARY REQUIREMENTS: Compatible military grade and assignment required prior to the effective date of placement. This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard. Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership. Participation in direct deposit is mandatory. Medical screening will be completed upon selection for hire. Soldiers who accept a technician position may be terminated from the Bonus and Student Loan Repayment Program (SLRP). Potential for Incentive Pay This position is eligible to be in the union. Qualifications Your resume must reflect in detail how the duties and responsibilities under each position you have held with each employer meets the below listed general and specialized experience required for the position. *Must include beginning and ending dates of employment stated as MM/YYYY; and total hours worked per week in order to determine part time vs. full time credit. GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Education, or training which provided a basic knowledge of principles and practices related to the health care delivery system. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Have 18 months experience which provided a working knowledge of missions, organizations, programs and requirements of health care delivery systems. Experience analyzing and recommending solutions to complicated problems. Experience developing and implementing various policies and procedures used in the state medical programs. Experience involving various administrative areas such as budget, personnel and public relations within a medical activity. Education A High School Diploma with completed courses in biology, chemistry, and general science is required. College course work in health care administration, general science, biology, psychology, and chemistry is preferred.
